Asystole
Asystole is a state of no cardiac electrical activity, hence no contractions of the myocardium and no cardiac output or blood flow. Asystole is one of the conditions required for a medical practitioner to certify death. Asystole is a dire form of cardiac arrest in which the heart stops beating -- there is no systole -- and there is no electrical activity in the heart. Sounding in the same vein as Killswitch Engage, Sevendust, and Mudvayne, Asystole delivers high energy metal with a unique edge that just skates upon the mainstream public eye. Based out of the Boston music scene, Tim Munroe, Art Gordon, Greg Gillis, and J.J. Long have been rehearsing their dynamic sound together since the summer of 2004.
Asystole Cause
Here are the list of
- suffocation, near drowning
- stroke, massive pulmonary embolus
- hyperkalemia, hypothermia
- defibrillation, and sedative-hypnotic or narcotic overdoses leading to respiratory failure
Asystole Treatment
Primary asystole may be prevented by the appropriate use of a permanent pacemaker in those patients who have high-grade heart block or sinus arrest. The only 2 drugs recommended by the American Heart Association (AHA) for adults in asystole are epinephrine and atropine.Transcutaneous pacing (TCP), even when used immediately, has not altered meaningful survival (ie, functional lifestyle) significantly.
