Herbal Medicines and Natural Home Remedies for Acne

Minerals such as zinc in doses of 50mg thrice a day have shown good results in some cases of acne. Vitamins like Vit A and B-complex have also some 'degree of beneficial value along with Vit E which can be given in doses of 400 mg once daily up to one month. Results vary from person to person.

Regular application of lemon juice is beneficial for improving skin tone and reducing acne.

Orange peel pounded well with water can be applied to affected areas.

A Clove based face mask can be applied overnight in patients with chronic acne.

Both local and systemic use of garlic is helpful in Cleaning acne pimples as well as scars. Eating 2 pods of garlic daily and rubbing raw garlic on pimples leads to their disappearance.

A teaspoonful of mint or coriander juice mixed with a pinch of turmeric powder can be applied on the face and washed off before retiring at night. This is also a good home remedy for pimples.

Fenugreek (methi) is another useful remedy for acne. A paste of the leaves can be applied overnight and washed off in the morning.

Cucumber can be used as a preventive tonic for acne. Its leaves as well as grated pieces should be placed over face and eyes for fifteen to twenty minutes every day. .

Water is one of the best natural cure for acne. At least 8-10 glasses of aqua puria should be taken every day. This imparts a healthy glow to the skin and purifies the blood.

Dietary modifications like quitting junk anq fried food. colas etc. excessive intake of fruits and green ,vegetables.; all playa major role in successful natural cure.

Condiments ice-creams, pickles, meat items sugar, tea, coffee, refined and processed foods should be preferably avoided or resorted to bare minimum.

In patients with constipation. a warm water enema or isapgul husk powder shouldi be given to cleanse the bowels. Epsom salt bath is also useful. This causes a sort of hot fomentation. opens the pores of the patient and increases sweating thereby eliminating the toxins and waste matter through the sweat. The bath is prepared by adding some Epsom salt to 60 litres of water having a temperature of about 37.8°C.
