Chicken Pox Home Remedies - Get Rid of Chicken Pox

Chicken Pox is a contagious disease, caused by varicella virus. It usually affects children three to four years of age. The older the child, more severe is the attack. People who get the virus often develop a rash of spots that look like blisters all over their bodies. The blisters are small and sit on an area of red skin that can be anywhere from the size of a pencil eraser to the size of a dime. However, when chickenpox does occur, it's highly contagious among people who aren't immune. The red, itchy rash is caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which is part of a group of viruses called herpesviruses. Chickenpox usually occurs in childhood. Adults who contract chickenpox are usually more ill, especially with pneumonia. If your child has chickenpox, then your child was exposed to the virus 14 to 16 days earlier. Chickenpox is very dangerous for people with immune system problems like leukemia, or for people who are taking drugs that weaken the immune system (such as steroids). Once you have chickenpox, you are considered immune; you will not have a serious infection again, but you may have a mild infection (called a breakthrough infection) Indirect transmission also occurs through contact with articles of clothing and other items exposed to fresh drainage from open sores. Patients are contagious up to 5 days (more commonly, 1 to 2 days) before and 5 days after the date that their rash appears.

Chickenpox was once considered a rite of passage for most children. Chickenpox is a common illness among kids, particularly those under age 12. An itchy rash of spots that look like blisters can appear all over the body and may be accompanied by flu-like symptoms. More than 90% of people throughout the world become infected with chickenpox at some point in their lives if they do not receive the chickenpox vaccine. Chickenpox is very highly contagious. It is easily passed between members of families and school classmates through airborne particles, droplets in exhaled air and fluid from the blisters or sores. In adults, chicken pox is rarely seen but when it occurs, it is in more fulminant form and lasts longer with the possibility of more complications. But the good news is that chickenpox is a common illness for kids and most people get better by just resting like you do with a cold or the flu. Chickenpox is rarely fatal (usually from varicella pneumonia ), with pregnant women and those with depressed immune systems being more at risk. A person usually has only one episode of chickenpox, but VZV can lie dormant within the body and cause a different type of skin eruption later in life called shingles (or herpes zoster) In the small number of cases when the vaccine doesn't stop chickenpox completely, the resulting infection is much milder than the infections that put most U.S. children into bed for a week years ago.
