Whooping cough - or pertussis - is an infection of the respiratory system caused by the bacterium Bordetella pertussis (or B. pertussis ). The root of turmeric plant may be roasted and powdered and may be taken twice daily.

The patient should give emphasis on whole grain cereals. raw or lightly cooked vegetables and fresh fruits. The patient should avoid meats. sugar. tea. coffee. condiments. pickles. soft drinks and icecreams.

When the cough is severe a warm-water enema should be used daily to clean the bowels.
