People infected with food borne organisms may be symptom-free or may have symptoms ranging from mild intestinal discomfort to severe dehydration and bloody diarrhea . The more bacteria present, the higher the chance of infection and illness. The most common types of bacteria to cause infection are Campylobacter, E.Coli and salmonella. Food poisoning can affect one person or a group of people, depending on whether they have all eaten the same contaminated food. Some foods carry a higher risk of causing food poisoning, and some people are more at risk of getting food poisoning than others. Treatment involves replacing lost fluids with water and electrolyte solutions. Antispasmodic medications are used to relieve stomach cramps in some cases.
