General Information

Halcion is in a group of drugs called benzodiazepines. Thisdrug is used to treat insomnia symptoms, such as trouble falling or staying asleep. Also, it can cause dependence, especially when it is used regularly for longer than a few weeks or at high doses. Triazolam affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause sleep problems. Triazolam may be habit-forming and should be used only by the person it was prescribed for . Triazolam should never be given to another person, especially someone who has a history of drug abuse or addiction. Keep the medication in a secure place where others cannot get to it. Use alcohol cautiously. Alcohol may increase drowsiness and dizziness while taking triazolam. Triazolam is contraindicated in patients who have myasthenia gravis or a history of uncorrected narrow-angle glaucoma. Triazolam may increase the effects of other drugs that cause drowsiness or dizziness, including antidepressants, alcohol, sedatives (used to treat insomnia), other pain relievers, anxiety medicines, muscle relaxants, and antihistamines.
