General InformationHalcion is in a group of drugs called benzodiazepines. Thisdrug is used to treat insomnia symptoms, such as trouble falling or staying asleep. When Halcion is used every night for more than a few weeks, it loses its effectiveness to help you sleep. This is known as tolerance. Also, it can cause dependence, especially when it is used regularly for longer than a few weeks or at high doses. Triazolam affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause sleep problems. Triazolam may be habit-forming and should be used only by the person it was prescribed for . Triazolam should never be given to another person, especially someone who has a history of drug abuse or addiction. Keep the medication in a secure place where others cannot get to it. Use alcohol cautiously. Alcohol may increase drowsiness and dizziness while taking triazolam.
