General InformationIsradipine is in a class of drugs called calcium channel blockers. This drug may cause dizziness, headache and lightheadedness especially during the first few days. Isradipine relaxes your blood vessels, which makes it easier for your heart to pump and reduces its workload. Isradipine is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). It is not known whether isradipine passes into breast milk. Do not take this medication without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. You may also experience diarrhea, heartburn, nausea, blurred vision, muscle cramps, weakness, swelling of the hands or feet or flushing. These effects should disappear as your body adjusts to the medication. Isradipine does not cure high blood pressure, but it will help to control the condition as long as you continue to take it.
