General Information

Infumorph Solution is usually administered through special infusion equipment. Because Infumorph Solution is concentrated, it is not intended for single-dose intravenous, intramuscular, or subcutaneous administration. It may also be used to treat pain associated with cancer, heart attacks, sickle cell disease and other medical conditions. Infumorph Solution may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to Infumorph Solution. Using Infumorph Solution alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or perform other potentially dangerous tasks. If your skin should accidentally come into contact with this drug, remove the surrounding clothing and rinse affected area with water. Use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery.

Infumorph Dosage

• The initial dose of infumorph should be 2 mg to 10 mg/70 kg of body weight.

Side Effects of Infumorph

• Changes in vision.
• Dry mouth.
• Frequent urination.
• Lightheadedness.
• Loss of appetite.
• Vomiting.
• Difficulty breathing.
• Tightness in the chest.

Warnings and precautions before taking Infumorph

• Do not use infumorph if you are allergic to any ingredient in infumorph solution.
• Because this form of morphine is very powerful, it is not recommended for short-term pain relief. This medication should be given only under close medical supervision.
• Do not substitute this medication for the less powerful versions of morphine. Serious overdose, even death, could occur.
• Limit alcohol consumption because it may add to the dizziness/drowsiness effects of this drug.
• Do not share this medicine with anyone else.
• Caution is advised when using this drug in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug. This drug should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.

Overdosage

• If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
• Symptoms may include cold and clammy skin; convulsions; deep sleep; dizziness; drowsiness; lightheadedness; loss of consciousness; slowed breathing; slowed heartbeat.
