Hydromide

Generic Name

  • Homatropine and hydrocodone.

Brand Names

  • Hycodan, Hydromet, Hydromide, Hydropane, Hydrotropine, Tussigon.

General Information

Hydromide is a narcotic cough medicine. It is a drug that works against the narcotic to prevent an overdose of this medication. The homatropine and hydrocodone combination is used to treat cough. Homatropine helps to dry up mucus from breathing passages in the nose and lungs. It is not known whether homatropine and hydrocodone passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. Homatropine and hydrocodone can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. Avoid using other medicines that make you sleepy (such as cold medicine, pain medication, muscle relaxers, and medicine for seizures, depression or anxiety). They can add to sleepiness caused by homatropine and hydrocodone. This medication may cause dependence, especially if it is used regularly for a long time or if it is used in high doses. In such cases, if you suddenly stop this drug, withdrawal reactions may occur.
